Lowen Farm Cottage

"It was a privilege to be one of the first people to stay Lowen. We have had a luxurious time in the most comfortable surroundings. Your deep involvement in the venture is apparent in all the detail and meticulous finishes. It was gratifying to live so well and yet know that our ecological footprint has been minimal. This is a gem that will delight countless visitors in the years ahead. The design and construction of the house has inspired us all as I am sure it will many others too."

Our new eco-cottage is named Lowen, (Low energy/Cornish for happy). It's a zero carbon, energy self-sufficient house. It uses energy from the sun and ground to provide electricity, heating and hot water to the house (as well as sending surplus electricity back to the grid).

It's hard to describe the feeling you get when you walk into Lowen. Words don't do it justice – you really have to see it. It's earthy and organic, almost as if it might have grown out of the ground. It's this feeling that inspired Pat in terms of the décor. "Mother Nature's brilliant at putting colours together. She's done it already, so just I've borrowed her palate." When you step inside, it's almost like walking into a garden.

The cottage faces south, with beautiful views down the valley towards the woods from the lounge. Wherever you look, there's something to capture your attention, like the huge, timber beams, which make up the structure of the cottage were reclaimed from St Lawrence's Hospital and are hundreds of years old.

Lowen's been decorated and furnished to a very high standard in keeping with the ‘Bosinver style'. Where possible, all the furnishings are eco-friendly and/or recycled and locally sourced. We've used Designer Guild fabric throughout. The décor includes artwork and furniture by Cornish artists and craftspeople. And we haven't even mentioned the cows yet...

There is a luxury contemporary fitted kitchen with granite worktop. The cottage also has under floor heating in the ground floor with radiators upstairs. You'll love the contemporary wood burner in the lounge for cosy winter evenings.

On the ground floor there's a twin bedroom and a king size bedroom with a shared wetroom. The first floor has a super king bedroom with zip-link beds (can be made into twin beds) with en-suite bathroom plus shower and another double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

The ground floor of Lowen is fully accessible for disabled/wheelchair users with wide doors, grab rails and parking alongside.

Outside, there's is a sheltered patio with outdoor furniture and a fire pit perfect for al fresco group get-togethers. You'll also find a shed for storing bikes and logs.
