Whatever the weather – rainy day activities at Bosinver

A paddling of ducks in the rain at Bosinver in Cornwall

Weather in the UK can be unpredictable, even during the summer months. At Bosinver, rain doesn’t need to stop play. We’ve got a whole host of activities you can do rain or shine. And because there’s so much to do on the farm (and everything’s just a hop, skip and a jump away from your cottage) it’s easy to pop out between showers and make the most of everything here.

Even if you’re unlucky enough to have a wet week, there are plenty of rain day activities to keep the kids entertained easily. We’ve even got spare wellies you can borrow if you fancy a spot of puddle jumping!

We were hoping that the children would enjoy all the facilities and experiences and they did. The farm does very well to provide for all weathers and the information packs in the cottage were really valuable in making the most of our holiday.

Enjoy family time

All our luxury self-catering cottages are well-equipped with everything you need for your stay. With large, roomy living areas, you can spread out and enjoy spending time together as a family. Rainy days are ideal for getting everyone together to play board games or cards, or snuggling up on the sofa and watching some of your favourite films – there’s lots to choose from in our DVD and games collection.

We had the best holiday at Bosinver. The weather was appalling but it really didn’t matter! There was so much to keep us all busy & entertained, and forced us to slow down. So relaxing but not at all boring! Towards the end of our week the weather brightened up which allowed us to explore a bit more. It’s full of things to do & see and feels truly magical!

Indoor activities for kids

With lots of different areas to explore, even on a wet day you’ve still got plenty of space to roam at Bosinver. Our beautifully warm indoor swimming pool is always a hit with families and a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. Heated using solar energy and renewable technologies to 30°C, it’s ideal for babies and toddlers.

Our Play Barn is ideal for little ones to burn off some excess energy. It’s fully equipped with Little Tikes bikes, a soft play area, tubes to crawl though, holes to drop down, a whirly slide and more…

For older children (and grown ups) there’s table football, table tennis, a pool table, retro games machine and the addictive table top game, Pucket. If you’re a big group, you could even set up a tournament or challenge some of the other families to a game or two.

If you fancy doing something creative, pop over to reception and borrow Nanny Pat’s Baking Box. We love any excuse to bake, and a rainy day is ideal for whipping up a batch of cakes or cookies. You’ll find everything you need inside, including aprons, a recipe book, tins and cutters.

More than enough to do with our three year old, no-matter the weather! Great indoor facilities provided at Bosinver meaning we didn’t need to go anywhere if we didn’t want to when it was raining.

Indoor activities for adults

Enjoy some ‘me time’ in our indoor swimming pool before relaxing in the sauna. If you’re keen to keep up your fitness, pop over to our gym for a workout. We’ve got free weights, a running machine, a spinning bike and cross trainer.

Or why not indulge yourself with a treatment in our custom-built therapy room? Choose from three local therapists who offer a range of treatments, including facials, massages and a variety of beauty treatments.

Outdoor activities

There’s plenty to do outdoors at Bosinver, so it’s easy to pop out between showers – or just kit up in waterproofs and wellies and carry on regardless. Our children’s trails – the Wellie Hunt, Gruffalo Trail and Hunt the Hidden Animals Trail are a great way to explore everything Bosinver has to offer. And then there’s daily animal feeding with Farmer Dave (rain or shine), pony rides, our Wild Kids club, and outdoor play areas.

Fabulous holiday even though the weather was disappointing. But there was plenty to do to keep the grandchildren entertained. They loved the swimming pool and soft play area and also enjoyed the Gruffalo trail. The outside areas are wonderful for nature walks and there were plenty of outdoor activities for older children too.
