Get adventurous

Here are just a few of the many outdoor activities which are possible in Cornwall:

Horse-riding

There are three riding stables that we recommend:

Boskell Riding Centre The nearest and very friendly!

Boskell Farm, Trethowel, St Austell PL25 5RG 01726 73049

Trenance Stables Wonderful rides on the beach.

Trenance Leisure Centre, Newquay TR7 2HU (behind the boating lake) 01637 872699

Lanjeth Stables

Coombe Road, Lanjeth High Street, St Austell PL26 7TL  01726 74633

Play golf

There are two excellent local golf clubs that welcome visitors.

St Austell Golf Club

St Austell Golf Club is literally a stone’s throw away from Bosinver. It’s an 18 hole, 6,042 yard par 69 parkland course with wonderful countryside views which offers a challenge to golfers of all abilities.

Tregongeeves Lane, St Austell, PL26 7DS  01726 74756

Porthpean Golf Club

Only a short drive away, Porthpean Golf Club has an 18 hole, par 68 golf course with beautiful views across St Austell Bay. There’s also a Licenced clubhouse offering light lunches and afternoon teas

Porthpean Golf Club, Porthpean, St Austell PL26 6AY  01726 64613

Go surfing

The North coast, beloved of surfers around the country, is only half an hour’s drive away. Try Perranporth, Watergate Bay, Fistral or Polzeath for huge, sweeping sandy beaches and beautiful views.

Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned surfer, there’s a beach to suit you. And there are plenty of places offering surf lessons for children and adults. Try Wavehunters in Polzeath, Harlyn Surf School, Harlyn Bay nr Padstow or Perranporth Surf School. If you’re heading over to Newquay, opt for Cornwall Surf Academy or the Extreme Academy, Watergate Bay.

Kayaking and Canoeing

Several companies offer escorted canoeing or kayaking locally:

On the River Fowey: Encounter Cornwall and Fowey River Expeditions

From St Agnes and Falmouth Koru Kayaking
From Trelissick Gardens near Falmouth, Canoe Cornwall (they also do archery!)

Wildlife trips

Based in Falmouth AK Wildlife Cruises offer half or full day trips along the south Cornish coast looking for wonderful wildlife including birds, seals, dolphins and even whales!

Get out on the water

Self drive motor boats or rowing boats are a wonderful way to get our on the water. They can be hired from Mylor Boat Hire, Falmouth Boat Hire, Helford River boats (at Helford Passage) and Fowey Boat Hire.

Deep sea fishing

Fancy trying deep sea fishing? We recommend a trip on the Aquila, which leaves from nearby Mevagissey. Skipper/owner Chris is well-respected in the area and has been fishing off the south coast of Cornwall for years. They provide all rods, tackle and bait. Trips last for 6 hours and cost £40 per adult or £34 for under 18s. Call 01579 320848 to find out more.

Try 4×4 off road driving

Experience the thrill of driving off-road with Trax and Trails on a 50 acre site in the beautiful Tamar Valley. Special 2 for 1 deal on 4×4 driving sessions for Bosinver customers. Call 01579 370718 to find out more or book a session.
