Wild Kids Club

Let them go explore and learn about the wild

Here at Bosinver weโ€™ve always been advocates of outdoor play โ€“ our 30 acre farm allows guests to freely explore our woods and lake area, discovering the delights of watching dragonflies and birds, flying a kite or doing roly-polys in the fields.

If itโ€™s more active outdoor activities you are after then thereโ€™s our zip wire and rope swing โ€“ guaranteed to burn off some energy!

Our Wild Kids club sessions with Forest School Leader Tatum give children chance to try out a range of outdoor activities and discover nature for themselves. We believe time playing outdoors and having adventures is well spent, whatever age you are, but itโ€™s particularly important for childrenโ€™s well-being as manyย recent studiesย have shown.

We run our Wild Kids club one afternoon a week (usually Mondayย  afternoon), gearing the activities to whatever age range of children we have staying that week. Please note 8 or more children are needed to run these sessions in low season.

Our passion for reconnection with nature has won us several awards including a Cornwall Sustainability Award and Gold at the Cornwall Tourism Awards for Wildlife Friendly Tourism Business.

We love taking part too in campaigns such as the โ€˜30 Days Wildโ€™ย June campaign by the Wildlife Trusts โ€“ the perfect excuse to take some time out each day to do something โ€˜wildโ€™ and reconnect with nature.

You can see from ourย Facebookย andย blog postsย that our wild encounters included exploring beautiful wildflower meadows, rockpooling and trying out many of the other โ€œrandom acts of wildnessโ€ that the Wildlife Trusts suggested. We are always delighted to hear how our guests have enjoyed our Wild Kids sessions or that children have been inspired to try some outdoor play nature activities from theย Woodland Trust Nature Detectivesย or the National Trustโ€™s โ€œ50 things to do before you are 11 ยพโ€

โ€œYour Wild Kids sessions are some of the best things our kids have ever done. Who knew that rolling a pumpkin down a hill could be so much fun? Or that roasting marshmallows on a campfire isnโ€™t too risky for a three year old? Following your wild kids sessions, my younger daughter now prides herself on knowing how to take care of worms, and my older daughter knows exactly where to look to find the best bugs. I love that they feel that girls can do these things.โ€ Kathy R

We are always looking for ways to make our Wild Kids sessions even better and more nature focused and recent activities have included bug hunting (and putting them back carefully!), clay creature modelling and making bashy bunting flags โ€“ as well as the usual fabulous muddy play and campfire marshmallow toasting. Who knows what new adventures weโ€™ll have at this yearโ€™s Wild Kids sessions?
