Dog Friendly Cottages in Cornwall
Bosinver ia a doggy paradise. With our 30 acres of meadows to wander in and hedges to investigate from the doorstep, it will be a holiday to remember for all of you! It is a short walk along a leafy lane to the village shop and pub at Polgooth. We have a hosepipe for washing your dog after muddy walks and an excellent book of Cornish dog walks written by a dalmatian called Toby and his owner which are tried and tested!
You are welcome by prior arrangement to bring 1 large or 2 small well trained dogs per cottage showing the Pets allowed symbol (
) at a charge of £30 per pet per week. We ask that pet owners bring their dog's basket and a supply of feet wiping towels to ensure they are clean and dry before entering the cottages.
Dogs must not be left unattended in the property but we do have a secure kennel where you can leave them for a few hours at a time.As we have free range chickens and ducks roaming around the farm, dogs must be kept on leads around the cottages. There are walks across the fields down to the lake and village where dogs can run free. Please note that Bosinver is a parkland site with gardens all around. All cottages have private space around them but they are not enclosed or gated.
Dogs are mot permitted during the Whitsun and School Summer holidays. It is best to avoid the main summer season to bring your pet. a number of the beaches are closed to dogs then and many of the attraction do not allow pets. My name is Meg and I am a 2 ½ year old springer spaniel. I have had a fantastic first stay at Bosinver and thanks to my human Mum and Dad I have been out every day. I have sniffed my way around all the beaches I am allowed on (Mum downloaded the Cornwall Visitor Guide from the internet) and there is so much to see! Every morning I have inspected the lake and run couple of circuits around the fields to set me up for the day. I can thoroughly recommend Toby’s Book of Dog Walks (borrow from reception). That dalmatian ‘nose’ where the best sniffing ground is – my favourites are Kingswood and Looe. People in Cornwall are very dog friendly and thanks to them I have experienced the Polgooth Inn, Pinky Murphy’s café, Bodmin Jail, the Bodmin and Wenford railway and a ferry ride at Looe. Mum and Dad say all this was possible because of the abundance of literature available at Bosinver – the choice was endless, so much so that I have been let in on a little secret ……… We are coming back!
Have to go now, so tired I feel a snooze coming on.
Meg, Garry and Becky, Hillside 17/10/09.
