Summer holidays at Bosinver Farm Cottages

2007 must surely go on record as a year of weather extremes - beautiful sunshine in April with record temperatures and not a drop of rain for the whole month. an indifferent May, the wettest June on record and a dismal July. A group of people even got together a website called  www.101-things-to-do-on-a-rainy-day-in-cornwall.co.uk  which was a godsend for ideas for wet days out. Then just when we were despairing as the children broke up for the school summer holidays, the sunshine arrived and things were back to normal!

Many of our guests at Bosinver Farm Cottages return year after year and we feel as if we are welcoming friends back to stay. On changeover days we often have to check the farm cottages in the evening when we have not seen the family arrive, to find them happily esconsced watching tv and eating tea, having already checked the place out for new developments having been in the swimming pool, had a game of tennis and satisfied themselves that the farm animals are fit and well. They all say, it's just like coming home!

The new play barn has been a very welcome and well used addition. Mums and dads are using the gym equipment whilst their children zoom around on the tractors and play tag on the soft play course. It works very well for entertaining the little ones while Mum gets tea or packs things ready for the day at one of our lovely Cornish beaches.

Bosinver's swimming pool has been very popular and Dave has been getting up early to try and beat the larks to clean it and dose it to keep it sparkling clean. Some chidren stay in there so long that I expect to see them emerge with webbed feet!

Another thing to keep the children busy is our woodland walk and 'hunt the hidden animals trail'. Families take off for an adventure down in the woods as they follow the stream over bridges and bogs seeking out the hidden animals to fill in their sheets and claim a prize, Georgina Messenbird had a shock as she was wandering up the field with her completed form and naughty Chalky spotted her, ran over and proceeded to devour half of it! Tears were soon forgotten as she was still awarded a prize for half a sheet of writing as she still knew where all the animals were!

The shops are now full of school uniform, reminding us that children will be back to school in a few weeks and we will be looking towards autumn. In October Bosinver short breaks will begin with 2,3 or 4 night short breaks offering a chance to sample all the delights Cornwall has to offer, without the crowds and are excellent value. Check them out from the short breaks page on this website.

We have heard that Bosinver has once again been shortlisted in the South West tourism England for Excellence Awards (last year we won Silver) so we have our fingers crossed that we can do as well or better this year! Keep reading the blog for developments!

That's all for now, speak to you soon.

Pat
