Farm holidays in Cornwall are fun!

You never know what is going to happen next down on the farm at Bosinver Farm Cottages. During the past week we have had several surprises from Mother Nature.

HONEY BEES

First of all we had a swarm of bees in the roof of one of our barns. Our friend and beekeeper, Simon, managed to persuade them all to come down into his lovely hive filled with honey and took them away to form a new colony in his garden and it was very interesting watching him quietly working with them and not making them at all angry.

BABY DUCKLINGS

Next, a duck we thought was lost arrived with baby ducklings which she had managed to hide from us and the fox so we now have them safe and sound in a pen much to the delight of our toddlers and their parents, who love getting involved in the animal feeding with farmer Dave.

SHEEP SHEARING

The recent warm weather meant that our sheep were getting very uncomfortable in their winter coats so we called the shearers in. They arrived on Saturday and provided considerable entertainment for our families, who had a ringside view of the action. The newly shorn sheep seemed delighted to be several pounds lighter and soon had their heads down grazing again. This is one fo the great attraction of a cornwall farm holiday as it gives city dwelling parents and children the chance to be close to farm animals and understand how food is produced.
