Cornwall Cycling Holidays

Here at Bosinver we are very well situated to access some great cycle rides. A mile past the village of Polgooth will take you on to the Pentewan Valley Trail, a safe, level off road track winding for 3 miles through woods alongside a river down to the sea and sandy beach at Pentewan. This trail is part of the Cornish Way and also links to Heligan Gardens and Mevagissey to the west and to St Austell and eventually to the Eden Project to the east.

The Cornish Way

The Cornish Way is part of the national cycle network being prepared by Sustrans and local councils. The Cornish Way, covering trails from Bude to Lands End is nearly complete and a helpful map and booklet is available from local bookshops or telephone 01872 322320.

Keen Cyclists

Pat is a keen cyclist and can recommend trips to other parts of the county which are great for cycling. We have the Camel Trail which is off road and links Wadebridge and Padstow on the north coast and the Portreath Tramroad which links Devoran on the Fal estuary with Portreath on the north coast - a coast to coast trip through the Poldyce Valley, site of old mine workings, which is fascinating. For mountain bike enthusiasts there is a challenging area set aside for you, called Mars! Also, near Bodmin, there are Cardinham Woods, a Forestry Commission site, which has a cycle trail as well as waymarked walks - lovely in the autumn. Guided tours and mountain biking are available by arrangement through Active-8.

Cycle Hire Facilities

We have cycles to hire at Bosinver. If you have only limited carrying space for bikes, bring the childrens' as they are the most difficult to match for size. There are also bike hire facilities at Cycle Nucleus on the Pentewan Trail tel. 01726 68569. They are planning to take escorted bike trips to Heligan Gardens and the Eden Project.
