What Our Guests Say

Over the last 20 years, we have had many self-catering holidays in Cornwall, but since we discovered Bosinver about 10 years ago, we've never felt the need to look elsewhere. It's clearly a wonderful place for families with small children, but it's no less ideal for couples of all ages. Pick one of the cottages outside the central farmyard complex, and you just don't notice that there's anyone else around. The location, layout and standard of the cottages is outstanding. It's absolutely perfect for getting about the rest of Cornwall (Fowey, Roseland,Truro and St Agnes are very easy and quick to get to). But you needn't go far if you don't want to: the local pub (with excellent food) is a pleasant short walk away and there are other lovely walks in the vicinity. We simply can't find any downside.

Fourteen of us have just returned from a fabulous week at Bosinver Farm Cottages, having gone there for a 60th birthday celebration. What a fantastic week. So much for the toddlers to do, comfortable cottages for the oldies (we stayed in The Farm House and Olearia), and the zip wire near the lake persuaded the more adventurous of the party to try the big wire at Adrenalin Quarry – the name speaks for itself! As part of our celebrations I booked Rachel of Each Peach Kitchen for her Private Chef service to provide a meal for the ten adults. Rachel could not have been more helpful, providing suggestions for the menu in the early stages, and taking into account some very specific dietary requirements. The meal on the night was fantastic – delicious, and with lots of extra touches that made the evening even more special. I know that all of us in the party will be highly recommending both Bosinver and Rachel’s private chef service to our friends and colleagues.

Yet again another wonderful holiday at Bosinver - my elderly parents were worried about coming away as they hardly get out at all at home but this holiday has made them realise there is life outside their 4 walls - thanks for that alone! They were in tears about how wonderful their holiday was. You two think of everything! Just a truly magical, relaxing holiday - we shall definitely be returning.

Everyone had a fabulous time – kids, parents and grandparents on our 2nd visit to Bosinver. Highlight of the week for the children was the Wild Kids Club – a first for Bosinver and a huge hit with the children (ages ranging from 7 to 3) Building camp fires, pond dipping and building dens – made me feels as if I was watching my children in an Enid Blyton novel!

Four years ago attracted by Cornwalls green credentials and following recommendation from a friend, we booked our first ‘grown up’ holiday, having only camped and caravanned before. On our first morning we donned wellies and stomped down to animal feeding, expecting it to be a ‘watch the farmer at work’ and I had primed the children accordingly. Imagine our delight when we were given handfulls of corn to feed the ducks and chickens, It was an unexpectedly life changing moment. I had always hankered after keeping hens and that morning the germ of an idea was planted. The next year we were back and this time I was taking notes! I realised keeping hens was something I could do in our tiny garden. 2009 came round and the ‘hen fund’ was mounting. On this trip to Bosinver I asked lots of questions which Dave and Helen pateintly answered..I headed home with renewed enthusiasm and the rest of the summer was spent clearing the borders where the hen palace would go. In February 2010 we finally erected a palatial dwelling for our 5 girls. There’s been a few teething troubles but we have a phrase in our house ‘what would Dave do?’ We have also cleared our flower borders completely and turned the whole garden over to veggies. I have lost 4 dress sizes from digging and our nicknames are Tom and Barbara from the ‘Good Life’ As to the future? I’d like some ducks and a goat. I think the neighbours, who have been very tolerant to date, might complain.

Dear Pat, Dave and Helen Just to say thank you for our great holiday last week in Hydrangea. It was lovely to be back at Bosinver. I did notice all the little extra things that make staying at Bosinver so comfortable, the frozen food is a really good idea and being able to borrow buckets and spades is brilliant. Carita loved the pony grooming and thank you for the pony rides which both Carita & Quinn loved. It just gets better and better each year! Bosinver really does give our children those happy childhood memories that last a lifetime. Thought you might like to know that a lot of people staying there for the first time said they would definitely come back again. Pat - I will do a review on Mumsnet for you.
Best wishes Maya, Dave, Carita & Quinn Fender Hydrangea 21/6/10 -
Dear Pat and Dave, We failed you in a spectacular way………..you asked to hear of great finds out and about and we arrived, hung up the car keys and mobile phone and we have had a FANTASTIC week just here!! It’s just so beautiful and so relaxing here – we loved the simplicity of walking down the bluebell lane to collect fresh baked pasties from the village shop, swimming in a gorgeous pool surrounded by guinea fowl and fragrant clematis (LOVE the new changing area … inspirational) zooming down the new slide 3 up in puddle jumpers.
This is the first time we have been somewhere twice and we’ve already booked for a 3rd visit next year. We love Cornwall and have always booked different cottages but not now, Bosinver is such a treasure trove that we are already addicts. It’s been such fun watching the kids grow up here. Last year James took off with his swimming in the pool and this year Izzy followed suit. There’s so much to explore and enjoy – it’s everything a proper family holiday should be and all the little things you both do make all the difference. Thanks again and see you next year ………………

WE have had such an amazing holiday here. Beautiful surroundings, brilliant facilities for our 3 year old and lovely people. Just what we wanted. Our only suggestion is that you don’t change anything at all – it’s perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.

Our 2nd trip to Coliza and we’ve had an amazing holiday – so much to do here and brilliant beaches just a stone’s throw away. We’ll definitely be back next year as it’s given us time to sit back and really enjoy and appreciate our children in such beautiful surroundings. Thanks again for an unforgettable holiday.

This is a wicked place! – We’re in Well Close and it’s much better than I expected. The people here were very friendly and Mum and me think that Dave is the smiliest man on earth!

'Have had a wonderful week in Cornwall- we are so impressed with Bosinver - beautiful cottages, fantastic play areas for the children and warm and welcoming people. Thanks Pat, Dave and Helen for making this a relaxing, memorable holiday. Having been anti holidays in the UK, I have changed my mind and will be coming back next year!'

What a fantastic find – this has been our first visit to Bosinver but it certainly won’t be our last. Well Close has been a real home from home – child friendly without sacrificing an atmosphere adults can enjoy..

"This is the second year we have come to Bosviner we love it here! Brandan and Harrison enjoy feeding the animals and riding the ponies no matter what the weather is! Brandan and Harrison especially enjoys going in the swimming pool where all the other Children and adults are even on a rainy day where the water is like a bath Or even like Brandans hydro therapy pool at school. Brandan loves going for a walk into the woods and being pushed on the large tyre in the trees. Bosviner has something for everyone young or old and the accommodation is beautiful we will be sure to be back!

We love this place and hope to come again soon. The cottage is wonderful and comfortable with everything we need. The grounds and views are lovely and we have really appreciated the peace of the place. Ollie will be excited for a long time about feeding the animals and thank you for making this experience a memorable one for him.

In the words of our five year old daughter within 2 minutes of arriving ‘Mummy I think this place might be magical’ It lived up to her expectations and beyond.

We celebrated my Mum and Dad’s Golden Wedding on 15th August 2009 at Bosinver, with 3 generations of the family staying together in the Farm House, ages 16-20 and older! The living room was beautifully decorated with bunches of balloons, banners and fresh flowers which was a stunning welcome. All of us enjoyed our holiday: the teenagers loved the warm pool, computer room with WiFi connection, table tennis and gym equipment, and the older ones appreciated the tennis court, sauna and peaceful atmosphere. The cottage was comfortable and full of character with tasteful furnishings and pretty country bedspreads. It was a wonderful week and the perfect place to spend a very special family time together as it had something for everyone.

It’s hard to say how much we have enjoyed our stay here at Bosinver but our son (2) expressed it perfectly when he said ‘I love my holiday home’ and kissed the walls!

(Mumsnetter Review) Our recent stay at Bosinver was by some distance the best self catering experience we have had, whether with children or without. If you have ever stayed somewhere and wondered "if only they'd thought of this" you will find that Pat and Dave at Bosinver already have. From when we first made contact to book the holiday and throughout our stay we were made to feel that their sole concern was for us to have as relaxing a holiday as possible. A lot of what is excellent you might come to expect at many properties these days - extremely well equipped kitchen, really comfortable furniture (and enough of it for a large group) - but it is the extras that made the difference: a freezer full of delcious, well priced and varied homecooked meals to save the bother of cooking, a big supply of children's toys and games to borrow, a huge dvd library, Pat and Dave on hand during the day to offer advice on where to go, or just to have a chat. The real highlight, though, for children and adults, is the daily animal feeding. To see our previoulsy shy three year old let "Dave the farmer" and Helen show her how to hand feed sheep, goats, hens and chickens, lead donkeys through fields, collect eggs, was a revelation. We really had to persuade ouselves each day to get out and visit somewhere, so easy would it be to just stay on the farm. A truly remarkable place, run by people with a genuine warmth and desire to share their idyllic surroundings

It’s so nice to come on holiday where everything seems to have been thought about – toys and books for the children, meals so we don’t have to cook every night, buckets and spades…………- the list goes on. We’re already saving up to come back again.

There’s only one thing better than our first holiday at Bosinver and that’s our second! We hope to be fortunate to return next year for our 3rd visit- it’s a very special place and we’ve had our two best ever holidays here.

Dear Farmer Dave, Pat and Helen, Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday once again. This is our 3rd visit and I don’t think we will ever tire of Bosinver. You have the perfect recipe for a stress-free quality holiday here. We are eternally grateful to you for heating the pool to bath temperatures………………divine!!

Thank you for one of the best family holidays we have ever had. Both our 3 year old and 1 year old really enjoyed themselves - the play barn, animal feeding, pony riding and woodland walk were all fab. We adults were therefore able to properly relax, especially with the delicious frozen meals on offer – all of us gobbled them up! You really have thought of everything a family with toddlers might need and we are very grateful for all your hard work!

BOSINVER DREAMS. Sheila and I have been coming down to Bosinver for five years now, and Buddleia’s our favourite cottage of the three we’ve stayed in. From its conservatory we can relax and watch the worry and tension of everyday life floats away above the trees across the meadow, just like the Buzzards. Within minutes of arriving here, the kettle’s on, and we can start to wind down after the long journey from Yorkshire. Probably takes all of five minutes, ten if the journey’s been a real pain, but inevitably the magic of Bosinver takes over... The clean air and the near silence... the rabbits and the birds... the flowers and yes... this time we also had sunshine and a blue sky ceiling for the whole week. It’s nice, means we can sit out on the patio of an evening, with a chilled bottle of ‘Sancerre’, as we watch this year’s crop of young rabbits come creeping under the fence to get a closer look at this week’s crop of humans. It’s almost as though they’re daring each other to get as close as possible before scurrying back across the field. It’s hardly surprising that families find Bosinver such a pleasant place to be, the facilities for children are second to none; but we’re in our sixties and still succumb to the magic of the place the moment we turn into the drive. And if that makes us sound lazy, far from it; the walks around here are far too tempting to allow any of that. We come here to relax, and end up walking further than we’d ever do at home; and that’s not only walking down to The Polgooth Inn. The choice is enormous, and it’s yours to make. The North Coast is only 40 minutes away, with its cliff walks and surfing beaches, and Charlestown, Porthpean, Pentewan and Mevagissey are all a matter of minutes away in the car. Inland you have the likes of Trelissick, Heligan and The Eden Project, all worth a visit at any time of year. Yes, there’s something for everyone at Bosinver...

(Mumsnetter Review) What an extraordinary place. I work in Early Years and have a 5 year old boy. Just to give you an idea of how much he enjoyed it at Bosinver this Christmas, he has asked me if we can live there forever! What a wonderful world for children to finally feel free in, discover mole hills, rabbit holes, birds, climb stiles, splash in streams, get muddy wellies in the squiggy squoggy winter mud, share special quiet moments with William and Secret the kindest and friendliest of ponies, .... the experiences are never ending. It's a world where the word 'NO' doesn't exist anymore - just sheer glee and joy and a wonderful night's sleep. Oh, by the way it's adult AND dog friendly as well! All the best comforts and what wonderful people: whether it be just for a friendly chat, advice, help, give you pointers on where to go, or what to do, Pat, Dave and Helen are such warm and welcoming people - really is a home from home ... maybe better? Great first experience and we'll most certainly be back ... maybe with the Italian side of the family next. Thanks.

What a surprise! How rare it is to find a holiday that completely surpasses your expectations! The cottage is absolutely beautiful and finished to a very high standard. The fresh flowers, the cream tea and all the facilities for our toddler made the holiday simply perfect! We managed to puncture our buggy wheel and lo and behold , Pat presented us with a stroller to use until we got ours fixed. You seem to have thought of absolutely everything. Thanks again.

What a fantastic find! A big thank you to Pat and Dave for creating such a superb hidey-hole. We’ve had a brilliant family time celebrating Ganny’s 80th. 3 generations and something for everyone. It’s such a treat for ‘mum’ to have a chance to relax because everything’s to hand, including delicious ready meals……….. you’re so thoughtful and it makes such a difference! James (8) now swims like a fish – terrific pool. Isabel continues to wake a 6.30am but now says ‘Please take me to the play barn now daddy! Thanks again – we will definitely be back
